Champagne and Cake: The Joys of Summertime Weddings

Ahhh the joys of summer weddings. Wedding Cake, champagne, and dancing. I love diving into a chocolate groom’s cake with a glass of bubbly! At New England weddings I wear a hat and enjoy the boats in the marina. In the South, I fan myself and drink a mint julep.

There are, of course, downsides to summer weddings. Mosquitoes, sweltering heat and not to mention expensive plane tickets, gift registries, and cocktail dresses! When I can’t afford to fly across country to wish my friend her best on the big day, I send her one of our animated wedding ecards.

Summer weddings make me think of some great old timey wedding songs, like Going to the Chapel by the Dixie Cups, or Today I Met the Boy I’m Going to Marry by Darlene Love. Here’s a great link to a 1967 video of Dionne Warwick singing Burt Bachrach’s Don’t Make Me Over. There’s nothing like a black and white video from a bygone era with a swooning voice! Puts me in the mood for love!


 

Let it Never be said Doozy Disregards BBQs

Well the Summer Solstice has passed, and we are officially in the thickets of summer. The sun is delightful here in Southern California. Those who are lucky enough to have access to a pool are enjoying splashing around with their families. People in Los Angeles are already a-buzz making plans for July 4th. Many people migrate to the beaches of Santa Monica, Malibu, or Orange County. Others forgo the mass transit and over-populated highways for a backyard BBQ.

We here at Doozy never underestimate the significance of a summer BBQ. That’s why many of our summer ecards highlight this fun pastime. Our Mission Impossible summer e-card features a Secret Ops squirrel that behaves to the Golden Retriever’s dismay.

Whether you like to barbeque chicken, hot dogs, pineapple, or green peppers on the Barbie, Doozy’s e cards will commemorate this summertime fun.

As buzz builds for the 2012 election, this summer we’ll enjoy constant news reports and TV coverage of President Obama’s campaign as well as his Republican counterparts. Be it Congresswoman Michelle Bachman or Former Governor Mitt Romney or many other politicians in the news this summer, our Founding Fathers BBQ ecard is a great one to send to your politically minded friends.

Singing Dogs celebrate Dad on Father’s Day

Send dad our new  heartfelt Dads are Heros ecard.  Dads do so much for us and rarely are they thanked enough.  How do we show dad we care?  Bennett and I decided to call our friend Peter, who creates Elmo’s music. We asked Peter to create some fun yet heartfelt lyrics for Doozy members to send their Fathers.   Peter created and sung the  fun Hawaiian lyrics  in our Hawaiian Doggie Fathers Day ecard and he created the music for Dad’s Dog Band.

On Valentines, Chocolate, and Love

Are you in love? I’m not. Again. Well, not with a human being… I am completely in love with chocolate (dark, with almonds!). and if you are reading this and thinking of favoring me by sending me some, please know I prefer the expensive kind (sorry about that). So, being a bachelor on yet another Valentine’s Day I celebrate the day in two ways.

First, it’s a day to celebrate all the people I love and admire. I really do believe in love itself, in the most universal, profound sense. I believe that the value of being sweet to people and the value of beauty is that it evokes the experience of love inside the heart and mind. This is a kind of spiritual uplift when you offer it to someone. It creates the experience of love in your own heart at the same time. I truly believe in practicing that daily. So on Valentine’s Day I speak more sweetly, tell  more people they inspire me, and try to behave kindly and graciously because I think it makes for more love in the world all around.

Then there’s chocolate. Let me just say, Chandler is really good about giving chocolate, especially on Valentine’s Day. Everyone at Doozy gets some. And it’s the good stuff too! This reminds me; my new favorite ecard is the one we made this week; Fairy Choclate Valentine. Caroline animated it and she has this very rich sense of color.
