No matter how old we get, most of us will always be kids at heart. At Doozy Cards we love celebrating that kid in all of us and helping people spread the laughter and love of childhood to everyone they know. And do you remember all of the fun toys you used to dream about or ask your parents for your birthday when you were a kid? Well, just because you’ve grown up on the outside, doesn’t mean you can’t still dream of toys today: they may just look a little different that your childhood ones.
Let’s take a look at some of our favorite childhood dream toys and compare them to what toys we might dream about today:
Toy Cars vs. High -End Sports Car
Over the decades kids have loved playing with toy cars of all types. From wooden ones to matchbox cars to fancy remote controlled ones: you’d race them around, make engine and tire noises, and build awesome obstacle courses. Now that you’re grown up, the cars of your dreams are a bit bigger, a lot faster, and you don’t have to make any sound effects for them. How about a sweet new Porsche, a Lamborghini or a Tesla for your driveway?
Show ‘N Tell vs. Giant Flat Screen TV
If you grew up in the 60s, 70s or 80s, you probably remember Show ‘N Tell. They were those cool miniature TVs with a record player on top, which would play a story and music on the record, while the screen would automatically display a slide show to illustrate the story. Now that you’re older, you probably dream about a screen that’s slightly larger and maybe one with surround sound. How about a huge 85-inch, curved 4K ultra high definition flat screen TV for your living room?
View-Master vs. Expensive Digital Camera
Remember clicking through the round slides on your View-Master, imagining yourself in far off destinations like the Pyramids or the Grand Canyon? They were so cool! But now that you’re old enough to go visit some of those far off destinations, you’re going to want something cool to capture your own adventures. The best digital cameras these days can cost quite a bit of money, but if you know how to use them you can capture some beautiful photographs.
Easy Bake Oven vs. 3-D Printer
Many of us had an Easy Bake Oven when we were little or at least had a friend who did (and they still make them!). Those fun little ovens could actually bake cookies and cupcakes (depending on who was in charge!). You still love freshly baked cookies as much as you always have, but these days if you’re going to create something in a small box, you might want to try an awesome 3-D printer. Advanced 3-D printers aren’t cheap, but you can create some pretty fun objects with them like…more toys!
